FAQ

Q: What is the difference between a vacation rental and a hotel?

A: Unlike a hotel, each of our condos are individually owned. You are truly renting a “home” – furnishings and décor will vary between units depending on the owner’s personal style. Our guests enjoy the benefits of a full kitchen (with the exception of Mana Kai and Maui Banyan studio units); you are sure to save money and enjoy the local flavors cooking at home in your condo rental. There is no daily maid service provided, your condo will be clean and prepared for your arrival and again at departure. With washer/dryers located in the units or shared on property you are free to do laundry or other cleaning only if needed and can enjoy your vacation uninterrupted.

Q: There are lots of vacation rentals available these days, why AA Oceanfront?

A: With over 30 years of experience, AA Oceanfront has been in the vacation rental industry much longer than popular online booking sites have been around, let alone the internet itself! We are a small local office within 10 miles to every unit we manage. Our staff is well acquainted with each property and condo and will be able to answer detailed inquiries before or during your stay. A member of our staff, not a stranger in a call center somewhere, is available 24 hours a day in case of any emergency issues. We truly care about our guests and hope to make your Maui vacation memorable, whether it is your very first visit or we get to see you every year!

Q: Why Kihei?

A: We think that Kihei is the best place to be on the island of Maui! Kihei is centrally located, provides easy access to our island’s limitless attractions and offers an array of local shops and eateries. Kihei is the sunniest and driest side of the island and boasts over 6 miles of pristine white sand beaches.

Average temperatures range from 82-88 degrees Fahrenheit and we only get an average of 13 inches of rain each year. You can always expect beach weather in Kihei! The south side offers clear views of Kaho’olawe, Molokini, Lanai and the West Maui Mountains. The west facing shoreline offers unforgettable sunsets almost every night.

Q: What does “fully stocked” mean?

A: All of our units are fully stocked, meaning they will be furnished and provided with linen, towels (both bath and beach), dishware, glassware, pots and pans, and cooking utensils. There will be a starter kit when you arrive which includes a few days’ supply of toilet paper, paper towel, dish soap, bar soap and laundry/dishwasher detergent where applicable. These items must be replenished by the guest as needed during their stay. It is important to note that pantry items, such as salt and pepper, cooking oil, or other spices are not automatically stocked but are often left available by the owner or previous guests. Please refer to a specific unit’s amenities list and always feel free to ask us if there are any questions.

Q: Are beach items such as chairs or boogie boards provided?

A: These are not mandatory inventory items in our condos and therefore we do not keep track of which units may have beach gear available. Some owners do choose to stock these items and often previous guests will leave them behind, but we cannot guarantee what will be available, if anything. Any items you do find in the unit you are welcome to use. If you would like to secure a beach equipment package for your stay please click here to see the options available from our partners at The Snorkel Store – get a discount if you tell them AAO sent you!

Q: Will the rental have air conditioning?

A: Although it is becoming more common, there are still many units that do not have air conditioning available. Most units have ceiling fans, and our island trade winds are great at keeping our homes cool. If A/C is important to you please be sure to check the unit amenity list.

Q: Are there any bugs or other pests to worry about in Maui?

A: Due to the tropical climate we all love, certain pests are a bit more prevalent. Insects, rodents and lizards do flourish here. The properties treat all units quarterly and every effort is made to keep pests at a minimum. It is always a good idea to keep counters free of spills/crumbs and to seal food tightly or keep stored in the fridge.
